The Hongqiao campus is a tapestry of student life, a serene space that nurtures their colorful dreams. As you walk through its grounds, you’re immersed in a vivid painting, experiencing the enchanting views through the eyes of the students who call this place home.

My favorite corner of campus is the hallway in front of the second-floor auditorium. In the glass display cases along the hallway, there are many different ancient yet magical violins and traditional Chinese musical instruments. Every time I pass by, I observe each violin with great curiosity and learn more about their history through the labels in front of them. Here, music and history intertwine, and for my friends and me, simply admiring these instruments brings us joy.

If I were to say my favorite corner in the campus, I can only say that there is a corner that is not a corner, it is the "conspicuous part" of the entire campus, and it is also a place that carries my deep memories and sweat. Perhaps its existence is not long, but because I love football, I have strong feelings about it. It is the green playground covered with "local specialities" (refers to rubber particles).

This season is over. There were wins and losses this year, and everyone performed very well. Let’s continue to work hard in the next season; as long as everyone works hard, that’s what matters. Everyone, take a moment to calm down; you’re dismissed!" This was the conclusion the coach gave to us at the end of the season. At the end of the matches, I also want to reflect on our half-semester of football training through our playground.

I joined the YK Pao School’s girls’ football team last year. Although the team doesn’t have a large number of members, here we have a coach that always understands others, warm-hearted and loving teammates, and the playground that belongs to us for the entire evening.

In this year's league, we are very sorry that we did not reach the finals, but I believe the significance of this league is extraordinary. Perhaps we made mistakes during games, and shed sweat, tears, and even blood, but football is still our favorite sport. I look forward to the upcoming game in the final class, and I will feel unparalleled happiness and pride when I successfully pass the ball to the forward again and again in the game, and then score a goal.

The school built the playground this semester to give us a home-field advantage, and so we no longer have to travel far to other places to practice. Every Monday and Thursday evening, ten girls and one coach pass the ball back and forth on the field. Regardless of spring, summer, fall or winter, if it rains, we take shelter under the eaves, and come out again when it’s sunny. Drops of sweat fall, and puffs of warm air escape our mouths. It is the school’s playground that witnesses the comings and goings of this team, and our day-by-day progress, bit by bit.

Of course, this playground has also witnessed three intense games. This playground is our mascot, we have never lost a match played on this playground! During the competitions, one of our beautiful and kind history teachers organized the parents to be cheerleaders beside the pitch, shouting "YK Pao School come on!". A group of teachers on the balcony of the second floor of the teaching building concentrated on the game. Under the lights of several headlights, we sweat on the playground, striving to show the best of ourselves.

This playground and this tournament have inspired our potential in sports. Perhaps we are not the most active participants in PE class, nor the fastest ones in the 800-meter run, but I believe we are definetely the coolest girls on that playground!"

My favorite place in school is not the library, where books are crowded and packed, nor the central garden, with its abundant trees, but the football field, where happiness and friendship are fully included.

On this field, we can sweat and release stress. Whether it’s a wonderful goal, or a moment of cooperation, we can feel the power of teamwork. In competition, I learned how to face challenges and overcome difficulties, understanding that while victory is important, friendship and unity are even more crucial.

On this football field, we chase our dreams together and experience happiness. I will always cherish this wonderful time and the joy of playing football.

Can you think of a corner in the campus that is filled with laughter, happiness, and joy, where all stress is forgotten? Yes, you guessed correctly, it is the Muyu Indoor Gym. In every student’s mind, the Muyu Indoor Gym is considered heaven among all other places on campus. Once snack time is over, we all rush towards the gym. The windows of the gym reflect the beautiful, warm sunlight. After a few minutes, the gym transforms into a lively orchestra. I can hear the basketballs bouncing with enthusiasm and the high pitched melody of badminton rackets contacting with the shuttlecocks. Our hearty laughter fills the gym. In this heaven, I can do whatever I want. I always ask my friends if I can join their basketball games, and they always say yes. We clap in ecstasy when a teammate scores. We laugh joyfully if the opponent makes a turnover, but the opponent is never offended. The gym is a lot more than just a physical space, it is a heaven filled with laughter, teamwork, and joy.

My favorite corner in our school campus is the pull-up bar area. Located next to the football field, the colorful metal bars test our strength and provide a fun place to hang out during recess time. This corner is filled with many trees and plants, making the scenery very beautiful. My friends and I often do 100 pull-ups altogether, with breaks in between. Ultimately, our hands feel tired, but it’s worth all the laughter and joyous counting. Sometimes, my friends even spin on the pull-up bars and do amazing stunts, some of which I can’t even do. I love this place because it brings joy to everyone and pushes us to challenge ourselves to do more than what we can, helping us improve. It’s where me and my friends share laughter and encouragement. For me, this corner represents not just strong determination but also the power of friendship.

My favorite spot at school is the library, and I particularly love the study rooms beside the windows, offering a private space to tackle my homework without distractions. The soft lighting and comfortable chairs make it easy to immerse myself here, and I can’t hear anybody shouting outside. I remember once when I was struggling with a project, and the library’s calm environment helped me brainstorm and finally solve the problem. To me, this spot is different from anywhere else. The library is like a realm where doing homework and reading books feels right, even during the short recess time. Sometimes, if I don’t want to move, I prefer to go to the library.

My favorite corner of the campus is the quiet area next to the Bamboo Room, surrounded by a few big rocks and greenery. Away from the hustle and bustle, without the distractions of frisbees or soccer balls from students playing sports, it is an ideal space to soak up the sun and breeze while enjoying solitude. Here, I can talk quietly with my friends, or I can empty and immerse myself in my own world and focus on what my heart is guiding.

Emma Shi (Year 7)

My favorite corner in school is this little space. Other people might not notice this little garden at the entrance of the school building, but to us, it seemed like a small world specially made for us. During lunch break, we would come here with our friends to chat and play games. In this little garden, there were some big stones for us to sit down on and rest or play after a morning of running around. These various stones also gave the garden a unique kind of life, adding special memories to my fleeting school days.

My favorite corner of campus is on the second floor, where the House prizes are displayed. My friends and I often sit there to chat and do homework. Compared to the crowded library, the noisy hallways, and the playground, this corner gives me a moment of peace and relaxation for both my body and mind.

I like the area around the auditorium seats. The beams of light that glow along the curtain edges and the smell of the wooden floor make the surrounding environment a magical place.

In my heart, my favorite corner on campus is the classroom filled with morning sunlight. On sunny mornings, the light streams through the windows, gently illuminating every corner, and the whole room is wrapped in warmth. The neatly arranged desks and chairs glisten in the sunlight. Even though there are no students in the classroom, I can still hear the echoes of laughter and the exchange of knowledge from previous classes. Here, every ray of sunlight and every moment of peace carries stories, memories, and hope. This is a cozy corner where I grow alongside my students and share a heartfelt connection.
