Hundred Families Banquet
In September, the Pao School held its traditional ‘Hundred Families Banquet’ at both the Primary and Middle Schools, with the High School event scheduled for November. The banquet, organized by the PTA and realized by dedicated volunteer parents, entertained teachers with a delicious feast, accompanied by a heartwarming thank you video prepared by students. The teachers were delighted by the excellent fare and expressions of gratitude, which communicated the depths of appreciation and understanding parents have for the school. This celebration not only embodies the Chinese cultural tradition of respect for teachers but also exemplifies the Pao School community's ethos of friendship and appreciation, upheld since its founding. These sentiments inspire the school and its teachers to stretch themselves to the limit in pursuit of an ever better learning. environment for the students.

Trip to Senior Centre
This month saw students from the Community Service CCA of the Pao Middle School visiting the Shanghai Renshoutang Senior Centre to spend an October birthday party with the elders there. The students first presented the elders with knitted flowers they had made themselves, as birthday gifts. This was followed by a performance of ‘Liang Zhu by violin and erhu ensemble, adding a touch of classical culture to the birthday party. Finally, a dried flower craft activity offered the elders a hands-on experience, completing a great time for all.
Scavenger Hunt
For their first PE lesson of the academic year, Year 6 students participated in a thrilling Scavenger Hunt adventure across the HQ campus. This activity served a double purpose, as an engaging sport and an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the campus. Through this method of discovery, students were able to gain valuable insights into the beautiful school and its cherished core values.

Mooncake Making
The Mid-Autumn Festival is an important Chinese tradition. To promote this traditional culture, the school has organized a variety of themed activities: inviting a pastry master to guide students in making their own mooncakes; providing seasonal delicacies for lunch; and creating exquisite ‘Chang'e Flying to the Moon’ handicraft clay sculptures. Through these activities, students have been able to consciously experience some of the many ritual and legendary aspects of the Mid-Autumn Festival together.

Cool Green
The High School Operations team recently held an inauguration ceremony at the High School Campus Library for its ‘green energy AC’ installation . The event was attended by President Xu Yongchu; High School Principal James Lyng; General Manager of the donor company Mrs Yu Yingna; CLT members; PTA representatives; and Green Origin society students.
Since its inception, Pao School has long recognized sustainability as a major issue, and its campuses have spared no effort in this area, whether in terms of campus construction or day-to-day operational management. The ceremony was a demonstration of the importance given to sustainability by the school community and inspired students and teachers to make further efforts to create a more sustainable campus.
Urban Land Institute
In mid-September, twenty-six students from Y10-12 participated in China's inaugural UrbanPlan workshop, organized by the ULI (Urban Land Institute) and its partners at the Gensler Office. UrbanPlan is an educational initiative that enables our young students to gain valuable insights into urban planning, fostering their creativity, while working to develop sustainable solutions for urban challenges. One of the major highlights of this workshop was receiving feedback and industry insights from a panel of VIP judges, comprised of expert architects and developers from leading urban development firms, from Shanghai and around the globe, including KPF, Shui on Land, Gensler, and others. This helped students to reflect on their experience, adding further value to their education outside of the school curriculum.
