Learning about YK Pao's philosophy
Across each campus, students watched excerpts from a documentary about YK Pao's life during morning assembly and between classes. The documentary gave students an understanding of how YK Pao built a shipping dynasty from the ground up, his lifelong dream for the motherland to unify, and the many contributions he made to construction and education in his hometown.

Founder's speech
At the Founders' Day celebration, co-founder and deputy chairman Tan Fuyun spoke, noting her honor at having been in close contact with YK Pao from 1985-1991. She stated that he was an unforgettable person – the first time they met he surprised her by asking her, “What books have you read lately?”. She highlighted her admiration of YK Pao for being a self-made man, both in terms of education and business. She also reflected on how YK Pao inspired his compatriots to make learning a lifelong journey, strive to continuously improve themselves, and to make their country proud.

"What I want to share with you all today is that we have to take inspiration from YK Pao's ability to learn. Learning is what allows us to improve ourselves and stay at the forefront of a fast-changing world. Over these 12 years at Pao School, we have grown together. In the process, I have come to understand what YK Pao meant when he told me that he hoped to inspire the people around him to make themselves better, to inspire the Chinese people to have the ambition to improve themselves through learning."
