To restore the earth to its former green vibrancy and find tasty carrots,
a rabbit traveling among different planets saves one 'life' after another in a vast mountain of trash.
The original musical 'Carrot,' written and directed by Zhang Yuting,
and a joint Earbaby Troupe-YK Pao School production,
will premier at YK Pao School in May.
'Carrot' is the name of YK Pao School's original Chinese-language play, which will be performed by students in the Primary School. After casting was completed in December, the production team quickly got to work. Students have been preparing imaginative music, stage props, lighting and more for this important performance.
Pao teachers assisted with the initial selection of production design, choosing about 50 different concepts which were displayed outside of the library. Students then voted on their favorite designs. This process was a fine example of how Pao students take charge of their education, shaping the outcome of their learning in a positive manner. Even though some students' designs weren't used for the play, they still learned something valuable about theatrical production from the selection process.

The six award-winning works (which will be incorporated into the production of 'Carrot') were selected by both the students and Pao School's leadership teachers. Two students shared each award -– Best Popularity award, Best Creative award and Honorable award.
Primary students will perform 'Carrot' on 23 and 24 May from 7:30-8:30 pm. Students are currently rehearsing every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00pm-5: 30 pm in the afternoon. They are working tirelessly to prepare for the important performances ahead. Rehearsals are important for shaking off that initial stage fright.
