Mr KT Chao, renowned Hong Kong entrepreneur and donor of the Pao School Persistence Fitness Centre, has once again made a generous contribution for Pao School’s students! To encourage continued studies in science, Mr Chao’s Jiangnan Novel Optics Co. Ltd has donated two sets of wireless digital microscope interactive classroom systems and two telescopes for Pao School’s Primary and Secondary Division. On May 25, the school honoured Mr Chao’s contributions with a donor appreciation ceremony at the Secondary Division. Pao School was pleased to welcome Mr Chao’s wife Mrs Cao Yuan Li Ping, daughter Ms Simone Chao and son Mr Samuel Chao to the ceremony. Regretfully, Mr Chao was unable to personally attend due to prior commitments.

Pao School is the first secondary school in China to be equipped with this digital microscope system, the other of which was previously installed at Tsinghua University’s School of Life Sciences. This generous donation is expected to greatly enhance Pao School’s learning environment in the areas of technology and science. Mr Samuel Chao shared his aspirations with students at the ceremony: ‘These microscopes that you will be using are the same as those at Tsinghua University. With the help of Pao School, you will become the world's top students. We are certain that we will one day see your names among the elite scientists in the world.’

Pao School Co-Founder Mr Philip Sohmen and Secondary Division Executive Principal Dr Paul Wood also attended the ceremony on behalf of the school. They also encouraged students to utilise this new apparatus to explore the world around them, explaining that more importantly, they need to be bold – to challenge existing ideas and seek answers in their quest to become the world’s next innovators. After the ceremony, guests also attended class observations, engaging and interacting with students as they tested the new microscopes.
