This week, Pao School welcomed a new group of younger campers for its second round of Junior Chinese Summer Camp! Campers began their first day at camp curious albeit slightly cautious, but after spending time with Pao School’s patient and attentive teachers and Junior Counsellors, each student found their place and enjoyed a fantastic first week!
At each morning assembly, teachers would lead campers in singing ‘Descendants of the Dragon,’ organising a mini-competition to see which students would give the best performance of the day. Each camper sang in their loudest, clearest voices and demonstrated great enthusiasm!
Chinese class quickly became a favourite among campers with its rich and colourful content, which incorporated games, folk music and even Mongolian dances to provide first-hand exposure to Chinese culture, allowing students to more effectively absorb Chinese vocabulary.
Junior Chinese campers also had the opportunity to interact with Activities campers in PE class or afternoon activities. The hesitation of the first day had all but faded away. Thanks to the many collaborative activities between the two camps, our Junior Chinese Campers are now confident enough to speak and play together with local Chinese classmates!
