It may be an exceptional hot July summer day in Shanghai, but that’s certainly not the case at YK Pao School’s auditorium, where you can hear the beautiful sound of students’ singing voices!
On July 22, led by Head of Performing Arts at Berkshire’s Lambrook School Martyn Ford, students from the Ralph Allwood Choral Course gave audiences a feast for the eyes and ears!
Helmed by a renowned UK choral teaching team, the Ralph Allwood Choral Course not only retains the original features of the Eton Choral Courses, but also maintains its distinct teaching concepts and objectives as well as its unique, local flavour. Students not only learned English, classic English, Latin and Greek songs – Chinese songs were also incorporated to add a sense of freshness to this second session of the course. As Mr Ford has emphasises: ‘Music is an international language and a widely-used language. Music helps children transcend the boundaries of language.’
The course activities not only helped students make great progress in their study of art and music – they also experienced first-hand the importance of a skillset that includes teamwork, mutual communication, abilities valued greatly by the choral instructors.
This intense, one-week choral course provides not only a rewarding musical education with lifelong benefit – children will be leaving the auditorium with beautiful memories they will cherish for years to come.
Thanks to the hard work of all teaching staff and Junior Counsellors, Pao School's summer camps successfully concluded!
