28 September was the 2567th anniversary of the birth of Confucius, Chinese civilisation’s greatest sage and educator. To honour Confucius and thank Pao School’s teachers for their marvellous work, parents of Secondary Division students prepared an elaborate traditional Chinese banquet.

◤A celebratory feast ◢

Pao School celebrates its 10-year anniversary during this landmark academic year. We will see our first Secondary Division class graduate, and for parents of Year 12 students, this banquet was their last at Pao School. Parents laboured for several weeks to prepare a feast to highlight these 10-year milestones.

◤Understanding Confucius’s impact on traditional Chinese culture◢

Confucius’s teachings emphasise social rituals, personal morality and respect for elders. For the majority of the past 2,000 years, they have served as the foundation for Chinese viewpoints on behaviour and government.

Chinese food is an integral part of the Middle Kingdom’s civilisation. Fragrance and colour are both important to the presentation of Chinese food, which seeks to make a strong visual impression.

Passing on Chinese cultural traditions is one aspect of the mission of Pao School. This year’s splendid Hundred Families Banquet showed how the school is successfully carrying out this important mission.
