On January 17, 10 YK Pao School students enjoyed a fun-filled ‘Future Stars: Dreaming of an art-filled world’ Winter Camp. They were joined by the top students from Future Stars drama, dance and music and visual arts classes – these Future Stars students were also children of Shanghai’s migrant workers.
Upon arriving at the winter camp, students divided into teams, playing games and completing various tasks. Thanks to icebreaker activities, all participants quickly became acquainted.
Over the course of an hour, students engaged in games like ‘Restructure,’ which required students to piece together pictures with wooden blocks.
In other activities, students used a map and compass to find designated areas in the venue where they will need to complete an assigned task.
Such activities were an excellent opportunity for students to challenge themselves as well as communicate, work in teams and put minds together to reach a single goal.
The Future Stars winter camp not only provided students with the chance to make new friends – it also fostered team spirit and leadership skills. More importantly, it helped students to appreciate the rareness of an opportunity to study the arts as well as understand the importance of being proactive in taking advantage of every learning opportunity.
