To promote the sport of cricket in China, YK Pao School was approached by the Marylebone Cricket Club, one of the most famous and prestigious cricket clubs in the world, along with Kingdom Education Group, to host a mini cricket workshop this past Wednesday. They brought ex-England cricket captain Mike Gatting OBE to deliver a workshop for students.
Mr Gatting, knighted in 1987 by the Queen of England, gave an assembly to our Y4 and Y5 students on cricket, and Y2 and Y5 students had their swimming classes changed to cricket classes! Students learned about the rules and traditions of the game and tried their hand at batting and bowling. They even attempted some diving slip catches!
We are looking forward to developing cricket at Pao School over the coming years, and we have already been invited to our first tournament in September.
