YK Pao School participated in the Thanyapura Invitational Swim Meet in Phuket, Thailand for the second time in late March, competing in nine events over four sessions in two days. In total, 19 international teams from countries around Southeast Asia took part in the event, including the Bangkok Elite Swim Team, St. Clare Montessori School (SCMS), Saigon Swordfish (SSF), Wellington College International Shanghai (WCIS), and Shanghai American School (SAS).
Our final point tally was 1811 points, taking us to 4th place. Of these, the boys group scored 1215 points to take 3rd place in their category, while the girls group earned 586 points, bringing them to 5th place. All swimmers worked hard and supported their teammates. There was great team spirit and everybody took home medals and ribbons.
Pao School co-founder Mr Philip Sohmen also competed, joining in the Thanyapura competition for the first time. He set a great example for the students, competing in two individual events and one relay. Mr Sohmen and coach Johnson Wu scored in the top three and earned 100 points for the Pao School team.
