Last Friday, YK Pao School Primary Division was filled with book characters that made our little bookworms' dreams come true: to live in a book world! Everyone dressed up for this special Friday. The charming Queen Elsa could be seen happily chatting away with Merlin, while a mighty Transformer reads quietly in a corner. Our secret agents, 008 & 009, revealed the mystery readers and 25 young agents were awarded with popular books. It was a magical day!
Each class also chose one best-dressed student to be rewarded with various kits or the most-wanted books. It was a genuine pleasure to see our talented children and their unique creativity. Let's not forget about the teachers who also dressed up for this spectacular day. Two teachers, The Ms Bad Case of Stripes Kate and Mr Lego Jonathan, were named Best Dressed Teachers. They most definitely deserved the title!
What's more, as part of our Book Week tradition, YK Pao Primary has joined the Heifer Read to Feed program for its 5th year! Heifer is an international organization that raises funds to support impoverished rural communities by supplying them with livestock and technology to enable them to become more self-sufficient. Read to Feed?is an altruistic-incentive, service-learning, reading program that offers educational opportunities and encourages children to develop a love of reading as well as a passion for helping others. We raise funds by reading as many books as possible for our weeks, and each year we exceed our own record. This year, Pao School raised more than RMB165,000, besting our previous record of RMB129,000!
