YK Pao School Secondary Division has just completed its first school-wide Health Week! The week was designed to increase awareness among staff and students about their everyday health.
The week included a Pedometer Competition: all students and staff received pedometers and logged their steps every day. The winner of this competition with a total of 77,246 steps over a 4-day period was Y6's Cory. The prize was a 300 RMB gift certificate to Decathlon. Some other fun activities on campus that saw a good turn out were our Health Questionnaire at our Wellness Center in which we gave away 85 prizes for correct answers.
We also had a Vegetarian Food Line which offered some very popular lunchtime items during the week, as well as a Nap Session at the end of lunch period, complete with pillows and mats to allow students time for some extra rest.
We also received some wonderful entries for our Health Poster Competition, which resulted in a tie between a poster about Staying Away from Sweets At Night (by Jasmine, Sandy, Apple, Susie, Yolanda, Nina, and Sophie in Y7) and a poster going over The 10 Tips to Better Health (by Athena in Y6).
A big treat for our staff was a yoga session as well as 10-minute neck massages that offered a bit of stress relief during lunch period. We hope everyone will continue to focus on their bodies and minds and to remember that every week should be Health Week.
