Huang believes in the importance of fostering students' interest in literature, while Xu likened literature to planting one’s own tree and cooling off in its shade – making it the writer’s own world. At the seminar, Pao School’s Headmaster Wu Zijian stressed that students should remember their roots in China and it is the responsibility of our educators to give them a foundation in Chinese language and culture. To accomplish this, we must emphasise Chinese education and the study of literary composition. Wu also believes that a solid foundation in Chinese is beneficial to the study of English. He further pointed out the importance of Chinese learning and literature creation from the perspective of bilingual teaching. Finally, Wu principal proposed that reading and writing and that teaching in these areas should stimulate students' interest. In addition to emphasising the importance of Chinese learning and literary creation from the perspective of bilingual education, Wu also recommended that reading and writing, as well as proper research in Chinese education will help to inspire an interest in literature.

David Xiong, Head of Pao School’s Chinese Department and member of the advisory board for the Literature on Campus of China, was also in attendance.
