This past summer, Year 7D’s Brandon Cai was selected by Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Shanghai Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning and the Government of the Czech Republic along with 40 other students to attend a diplomatic mission to the Czech Republic.
In Prague, Brandon and the other ambassadors spent several days exchanging, interacting and making friends with local children, learning about each others’ cultures, competing in sports activities and participating in paper cutting crafts, artistic performances and more.
The most memorable part of the experience for Brandon was the trip to the Prague Castle – this was his first time attending a state banquet. Together with the children, Czech President Miloš Zeman and Vice Premier Liu Yandong watched The Panda and the Mole. Brandon was also selected to represent the Shanghai delegation in presenting two figures of the two countries’ national animals – the mole and panda – to President Zeman. He was also lucky enough to be photographed together with both Liu and Zeman!
Brandon expressed that Pao School’s whole person education which combines Chinese and international teaching approaches was extremely beneficial to this trip. The English skills he obtained from the school helped him immensely in communicating with others. Pao School also helped him adapt quickly to this new environment and bring out the best in himself.
