On July 10, campers from YK Pao School’s first Junior Chinese Camp delivered a talent show to close the session. Students from our Love, Integrity, Balance, and Responsibility classes brought exciting performances that included drama, song, martial arts, and Hulusi, showcasing the incredible progress they have made over the last two weeks.
After opening the show with the traditional Chinese number, “Jasmine Flower,” our campers, hand in hand, stepped down from the stage, and personally delivered a jasmine flower to parents and teachers!
Integrity class performs “Snow Kid,” telling the touching story of a snow child who sacrificed himself to help others.
Responsibility and Balance bring together the sweet sounds of “Singing and Smiling.”
Campers sang as they introduced the fruits on their heads. As the pace of the song grew faster and faster, the song become more and more difficult! Great job, campers!
Integrity class performs the five-step punch. They may be young, but our students’ moves showed experience beyond their years!
Our more senior students in our Responsibility class even performed the more difficult moves all by themselves, earning great applause from the audience!
Balance class tells the story of “Year” not only to give everyone a better understanding of Chinese New Year, but also show off the couplets they made in class!
Love and Integrity class sang and danced to their rendition of “Little Swallow”!
Responsibility and Balance class performed music of the ethnic Dai culture on the Hulusi. All of our little musicians took their craft seriously!
Students from the Love class perform “This is my body.” Everyone enjoyed their cute and amusing performance!
For the final act, Responsibility class retells the story of “Houyi Shooting the Sun.”
Pao School Headmaster Wu Zijian presents each of our campers with their very own certificates of achievement!
Pottery work by our campers were on display after the show. Parents were visibly proud of their children’s wonderful works of art!
Pao School’s Junior Chinese camp not only gives students an opportunity to experience culture and improve their Chinese ability – it also sparks their interest in language learning and gives them the confidence to communicate in a new language. 60 campers from over 10 countries, including US, Germany, Italy, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Hong Kong attended the first session of our Junior Chinese Camp. Our 16 experienced teachers and homeroom teachers as well as 5 Junior Counselors from Pao School’s Secondary Division were integral to the success of our program.
