YK Pao School's Secondary Division Library had the pleasure of hosting New York Times bestselling children’s book author and playwright, Margi Preus, who entertained students with writing tips from her dog and amazed students with the writing process itself. Our students realized that it takes plenty of research, many drafts and a great deal of dedication to reach a final version of a written work.
The students who attended Margi's sessions were from Y6 through Y8 and have read her Newbery Honor Book Heart of a Samurai. This made for a very rewarding and rare opportunity for our students to meet an internationally-known author. Students had many thought-provoking questions, as well as some light-hearted ones that had everyone chuckling. Overall, it was an incredibly rewarding, memorable and educational experience.
Several of Margi's other works, including Shadow on the Mountain and West of the Moon are available at the library. We are also fortunate enough to have been given the second installment of Heart of a Samurai before its official release. Come and check out Margi's work!
