On December 5th, YK Pao School’s Primary Division held its annual English Speech Day. As in previous years, parents were invited to our auditorium to watch their children proudly and confidently take part in the day’s performances.
For this event, students and teachers worked together to prepare presentations around Pao School’s values, including responsibility, respect, balance, resilience, and integrity. Year 2 students performed Aesop's fables, Year 4 students explored the lives of Amelia Earhart and Malala Yousafzai, while Year 5’s wrote and presented their own poems about Milkweed, a novel set in World War II.
Pao School’s English Speech Day gives students, many for whom English is a second or third language, the opportunity not only to express themselves in English, but to develop essential skills including fluency and memorization, practice public speaking, and build confidence by participating in fun productions. More importantly, it brings the entire Pao School family together: students get to see what their peers are working on, and parents can enjoy seeing their children showcase their ability and academic progress.
