As our standard of living improves, we seem to getting more and more satisfied in our lives, but look around you, and you may notice a group of children, born to a life devoid of opportunity. Poverty has taken away their joy, their connection to art and their dreams of art-filled life.
They are the children of migrant workers.
A simple act of kindness is enough to give these children warmth and happiness. Give them love and an opportunity, and you could perhaps change their fate.
On January 23, 2016, led by the Shanghai Children’s Fund, Shanghai’s top four children’s art troupes: Future Star troupe, CWI Children’s Palace troupe, the YK Pao School Choir and the Malan Flower troupe, will be performing at the ‘2016 Future Star Art Dreams New Year’s Charity Benefit,’ to be held at the Shanghai Children’s Art Theatre. The purpose of the benefit is to promote social harmony, equality in education, and showcase the long-term support of social workers’ in making it possible for hundreds of children of migrant workers in Shanghai to participate in activities beyond the classroom. Proceeds from the benefit will fund the ‘Future Star Art Dreams’ project, which will fulfil the dreams of these children by giving them advanced training opportunities in dance, music,art and drama – the same opportunities afforded by local children.
