“I’m scared, … and I’m not the only one, I’m just the only one saying it.”
The YK Pao School Secondary Division Drama Department proudly presents
‘DNA’ (Deoxyribonucleic acid)!
A play by British writer Dennis Kelly
The group of friends is confronted with serious consequences
‘DNA’ is an intense piece that touches upon contemporary issues, portraying the perspective of disillusioned and alienated teenagers on their immediate world. This production will be presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Ltd.
‘DNA’ follows the actions of group of teenage misfits as they come to terms with the consequences of a practical joke that ends in tragedy. This piece deals directly and powerfully with hard hitting, relevant issues, such as violence, guilt, unrequited love, tyranny and solidarity within a group of adolescents who have placed themselves at the edge of society.
The group discovers how their tyranny presents them with cathartic repercussions and social developments within their clique. With a harrowing twist and a taste of the sinister that smacks of William Golding’s ‘Lord of The Flies,’ ‘DNA’ is a social commentary that resounds with people of all ages.
